Desajustes del tipo de cambio en países en vías de desarrollo

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la teoría del tipo de cambio real (TCR) de equilibrio y define el desajuste como una desviación del TCR de su nivel de equilibrio. Luego, se analiza el rol de la política macroeconómica bajo tres regímenes alternativos de tipo de cambio nominal: tipos de cambio nominal predeterminado (fijado), tipo de cambio nominal flotante y tipos de cambio nominal duales o con mercado negro. Esta discusión señala cómo las políticas macroeconómicas inconsistentes, a menudo llevan a un desajuste en el TCR. Son evaluadas entonces, medidas correctivas, que incluyen devaluaciones nominales y varios enfoques alternativos.
