Algunos elementos de teoría de catástrofes y una aplicación

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene dos propósitos en mente; en primer lugar, el de entregarle al lector no especializado en el tema una visión panorámica de lo que hay detrás de la teoría de catástrofes –manteniendo el nivel matemático a un nivel mínimo-, y las consecuencias que ha tenido sobre la ciencia en general, y en segundo lugar, mostrar cómo puede ser utilizada esta teoría, al tratar un tópico como es el de regulación en el sector financiero y de paso examinar cómo se podrían generar algunas singularidades.
