Nota técnica 1: Trimestralización de las series nacionales de empleo

Abstract

La investigación sobre el comportamiento del empleo a nivel agregado se ha visto significativamente disminuida por la carencia de información adecuada. En efecto, los estudios econométricos a nivel nacional son limitados por el hecho de que tales cifras sólo tienen periodicidad anual y los datos para el Gran Santiago, aunque trimestrales, reflejan en forma sesgada la realidad del país, sobre todo para algunos sectores como el agrícola y el minero. Por otra parte, la existencia de programas de empleo de emergencia implican que los datos de empleo no representan necesariamente ocupaciones productivas. El propósito de este trabajo es generar series trimestrales de empleo a nivel nacional usando como base, la información anual de ODEPLAN, corregida por Riveros (1984). Este objetivo trata de lograr un nivel suficientemente desagregado, en términos sectoriales, que ellos puedan ser útiles para estudios posteriores.
