La mobilité pendulaire des interurbains et leurs impacts sur les émissions de CO2 , un enjeu d'aménagement

Abstract

L’étude de la mobilité domicile-travail fait l’objet de nombreuses recherches visant à dé-crire et analyser la géographie de ces déplacements et leurs conséquences environnemen-tales. En France, ces études se concentrent principalement sur les individus vivant dans les espaces fonctionnels construits autour des agglomérations, les aires urbaines. Le pré-sent article vise à fournir une lecture complémentaire de ces travaux en étudiant les per-sonnes qui se déplacent entre aires urbaines : les actifs interurbains. À partir d’une ap-proche quantitative à l’échelle de la France continentale, menée principalement grâce aux bases de données du recensement de la population, l’article se propose d’analyser les caractéristiques des déplacements de ces actifs interurbains ainsi que d’évaluer le volume de leurs émissions de CO2. Du fait de l’usage de la voiture, principal mode de transport utilisé par les actifs interurbains, et malgré leur poids relativement faible dans la popula-tion, ces actifs sont responsables d’un volume beaucoup plus important d’émissions de CO2 en France que les autres catégories d’actifs.
