Abstract

The current socioeconomic demands require deep reforms in the public administration in the Member States of the European Union. The reform strategies at the level of the local units have as main objective the identification of the measures to ensure modernisation of the public administration in order to optimise decision making, to improve the management of human resources, public finances, quality of the public services by promoting and introducing elements of quality management. Strengthening a public administration based on decision-making and citizenoriented transparency is an ongoing process. Promotion and introduction of quality management elements in the public sector is achieved through public sector reform projects based on quality management standards. The objectives of this study are to identify the quality policies and their implementation at the level of the City of Iasi and to use in practice the quality management tools, while emphasising the need for permanent and timely adaptation of the local public administration services.
