Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Digitalisierung hat mittlerweile sehr viele Wirtschaftsbereiche erfasst. In Zukunft wird sie — vorausgesetzt die Gesellschaft entscheidet sich dafür — die Wirtschaft noch stärker durchdringen. Der Autor findet sowohl wachstumsfördernde als auch wachstumsdämpfende Effekte. Die Entwicklung kann langfristig mit einem deutlichen Rückgang der Beschäftigung einhergehen, was sich negativ auf den Konsum auswirken würde. Kurzfristig sieht er durch die notwendigen Investitionen im Rahmen der digitalen Transformation positive Wachstumswirkungen. Allerdings ist es durchaus möglich, dass es zwar zu einem Rückgang des gemessenen Bruttoinlandsprodukts kommt, aber dennoch der gesellschaftliche Wohlstand durch die gewonnene Zeit für selbstbestimmte Tätigkeiten zunimmt.
