Abstract

This study evaluates the practice of e-government in Iran within the context of public administration reform and new public management practices. The findings show that, on the one hand, e-government applications in Iran positively affected some variables of public administration reform. It is also that e-government applications have no significant effect on some other variables of public administration reform. There are several problems in the areas of technical infrastructure, information security, access to government information and services, legal infrastructure, and finance, that limit the positive effect of e-government applications on public administration reform.
