Abstract

This paper investigates the relationship between stock market development and economic growth. Four different dimensions of stock market development have been combined by using principle components method. In this way, the latent variable for stock market development is constructed from four different proxies and using this variable the relationship between stock market development and economic growth is examined. The analyses show that stock market development has a positive effect on economic growth.
