Abstract

In the world economy having an increased and an intensified competition atmosphere, mergers and acquisition activities are gaining importance. Companies are considering creating new economic advantages such as reducing their costs and providing market promotions and competition according to their scales. In this study, it has been aimed to determine the scale of the sector in the frames of an econometric analysis using general expenditures and total premium amount data’s which belong to the years 1971-2003 of Turkish Insurance Sector; and it has been discussed whether or not these merger and acquisition activities are appropriate in the structure of this scale.
