Abstract

TThe main purpose of this article is to present the problem of the influence of intensity of links between companies in the supply chains on their innovative activity within the Mazovian regional industrial system. The results of the study showed that the participation of companies in the industrial supply chain, on both supplier and consumer sides, positively determines the activity of the regional innovation system. Furthermore, whenever supra-regional trade network of production companies exists in the province considered, new technological solutions are created. The study notes that in order to innovate, companies operating in the studied region should be a part of (often transnational) industrial network integration. In general, the fewer suppliers or the more recipients cooperate with them, the more intensely. The phenomenon of vertical co-operation is therefore a basis for the transfer of both formal and intangible knowledge within the industrial system.
