Abstract

У. Гардинг сформулировал принципы экономической политики: страна нуждается в нормализации экономической жизни, причем не в героических поступках, а в лечении, не в революции, а в восстановлении, не в агитации, а в регулировании, не в хирургии, а в спокойствии. Сокращение бюджетного дефицита, регулирование внешнеторговых тарифов, социальная стабильность в обществе, курс на разоружение на фоне громких коррупционных скандалом все это досталось в наследство К. Кулиджу. Его кредо: доверяй, но проверяй. Именно контроль позволил Кулиджу преодолеть правительственный кризис. Кулидж был первым президентом США, который использовал радио как средство массовой информации. К концу 1928 г. состояние бюджета и госдолга улучшилось, средний класс, плативший умеренные налоги и имевший налоговые кредиты, процветал. Хотя подъем в экономике еще продолжался, но уже начался «перегрев», появились спекулятивные пирамиды. Таковы итоги 1921-1928 гг.
