Abstract

Agriculture has always been the main branch of Romania’s national economy. The geographical conditions of climate and relief have always been the possibility of developing a complex agriculture. Animal husbandry, field crops and all the other have brought Romania export opportunities that have developed and brought strong currency in the periods up to 1990 that facilitated other imports, and after 1990 it continued but at a pace not very positive. In the following, the authors focus on some developments in the agricultural sector, but this time on the animal husbandry and livestock sector. It is noted that in 2017, compared to the previous period, the previous months or the year 2016, animal husbandry has decreased, as a result the slaughter for domestic production of all animal species has been decreasing. The most dramatic decrease is in pigs, reaching 90.4% in August, compared with 89.6% as compared to September. This situation is explained by the decrease of the livestock, in which the results are negative.
