The Convergence to European Union: Investigations for Central and Eastern Europe Countries Abstract: The prospects of the Central and Eastern European countries to become members of the European Monetary Area depend very much on introducing structural reforms in order to have economic policies correlated with a high degree of convergence with the rest of the European Union countries. The transition process of the Central and Eastern European countries offers the opportunity to carry out a quantitative analysis of convergence, as well asto identify the paths of economic development leading to a certain degree of convergence.This article explores the convergence of the Central and Eastern European countries based onthe macroeconomic indices
