Abstract

The paper deals with Costantino Bresciani Turroni's contribu-tion to the statistics and theory of distribution of wealth, with emphasis on his critical interpretation of the "Pareto curve". The paper suggests that the two economists remain on opposite sides both on the criteria of measurement of the inequality of wealth and in the interpretation of the distributive capitalistic dynamics. The concluding part of the paper shows that Bresciani Turroni arrives, in the works of maturity, to generalise the problem of the distribution of wealth in a conceptual framework that, on the one hand, presents strong analogies with Simon Kuznets' approach and, on the other hand, appears open to redistribution in a "millian" sen-se.
