Abstract

This paper presents a case study regarding the health status of students from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. The parameters I considered of interest are body weight, height, and perimeter of the neck, perimeter of the bust, perimeter of the under-bust, waist perimeter, hips perimeter, thigh perimeter, arm perimeter and BMI. In recent years obesity has become the main culprit in the leading causes of death by causing heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, gallbladder disease and gallstones, osteoarthritis, gout, breathing problems, such as sleep apnea, and asthma. A worrying outcome has arisen, because according to the measurements there are more overweight students then there are normal weight ones, which proves there is an urgent need of action.
