Abstract

The present paper describes the economic consequences of absenteeism at the workplace, but also the effective methods and strategies for managing it. In this paper, the abstenteeism is considered the failure to report for or remain at work as scheduled, regardless of cause. Recognized holidays, approved leaves, etc. are therefore excluded as reasons. Here are presented the causes of abseenteism, the costs related to this issue, measuring the abseeteism, the appropriate strategies for controlling and managing abseenteism and also the models and recommendations of good practice.
