Abstract

The review considers Yu.V. Abdurakhimov’s monograph “South Ural monotowns: problems and prospects of development” and emphasizes the topicality of the study. To solve the problems of developing small depressed towns, the author outlines the correct choice of the project paradigm for sustainable development, the problems of modernizing cityforming enterprises and creating new “growth points” in depressed towns, sources of income and actions for developing economy, prospects for developing monotowns in the context of new global economy trends. The monograph materials can be considered the basis for developing the ideas of organizational and economic management of such territories.
