Abstract

The author clears up the topicality of belief and describes the notion. Four logical variants of correlation between belief and knowledge in historical and philosophic context are considered: (1) negation of belief, (2) taking it over by knowledge, (3) belief including knowledge (as metaphysics of belief) and (4) negation of knowledge. The third variant is defined as logical and reasonable. The author defines the dependence of gnosiological aspect of correlation between belief and knowledge on ontology. Pantheistic metaphysics is criticized and transcendentalism is justified as a basis for metaphysics of belief.
