Abstract

The article considers the mental portrait of a modern Western individual through the prism of M. Welbeck’s novels. There are such important essential features of the mental portrait as: loneliness, alienation from social life, a sense of abandonment, existential anxiety, a sense of uselessness, dissatisfaction with oneself and culture, fear of old age, need for Another and inability to build Relationships with the Other.
