Abstract

In the article the author substantiates the high role of circular processes taking place in the economy of the region in order to ensure its sustainable development. The article analyzes the main advantages of introducing a closed-loop economy and the impact of these processes on the socio–economic development of the region and achieving balance and sustainability of its three subsystems - economic, social and environmen-tal from the point of view of following the three-part ESG model of regional development. The ratings of Russian regions from the point of view of their effectiveness in handling MSW are also analyzed and the presence of certain correlations with the effectiveness of the implementation of the concept of sustainable development by these regions is established.
