Abstract

The article is devoted to the description of the personality, the essence of professional activity, status, psychological qualities of a university teacher. The author draws attention to the peculiarities of the training of university teachers in modern Russia. The teaching profession is analyzed from the content, methodological and psychological-pedagogical side. The author points out the important role of not only professional training, but also the personal pedagogical experience of the teacher. The article analyzes the psychological traits and qualities inherent in the representatives of the teaching profession. At the same time, attention is paid not only to the psychological qualities that contribute to the success of teaching, but also to such psychological charac-teristics of the individual that hinder the successful work of the teacher. The author also points to socio-cultural factors that both contribute to and hinder the successful implementation of professional tasks of the teacher.
