Prospects for the development of popular science tourism in Russia

Abstract

The article is devoted to the development prospects of one of the directions of domestic tourism in Russia – popular science tourism – developed within the framework of the National Project Tourism and Hospitality Industry and aimed at raising public awareness about the achievements and development prospects of domestic science. The authors assessed the current state of tourism industry in our country, analyzed the documents presented on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, which acted as the author of the proposed development concept, considered the main goals and objectives aimed at implementation of the new project, listed the population groups that represent the target audience, and gave the examples of central and subsidiary objects of tourist destination that could carry out their activities in the field of popular science tourism. The article also specifies the conditions for inclusion of the institutions developing routes within the framework of the new direction in the unified register of the objects available for tourists.
