Abstract

The decline in proceeds of agricultural activities and the need to diversify entrepreneurship in rural areas have become a factor in the development of rural tourism. The paper analyzes the key effects of the development of rural tourism as socially significant type of entrepreneurial activity of the rural population. The results obtained allow concluding that rural tourism contributes to sustainable development of rural areas, namely: infrastructure development, improvement of life quality, incomes increase of the local population, job creation, support and preservation of traditions and culture and environment preservation. The author suggests measures aimed at educating, informing and involving the rural population in tourism activities and contributing to the processes of diversification of traditional activities in rural areas.
