Abstract

This paper presents certain aspects regarding the thermal dewatering of sewage sludge using a combined system of greenhouses and heat pumps, by recovering the solar energy and the heat of the effluent. Starting from the diagram of a classic system with the mechanical driven heat pump, this paper presents a flow diagram, with heat transfer from the cold source (the effluent of the wastewater treatment plant) to the warm source (the heating thermal agent), for the thermal dewatering of the sludge from Timișoara City Wastewater Treatment Plant. The paper makes an analysis of the energy balance and presents the results of the thermal dewatering tests, at the same time comparing the obtained experimental values with the design data.
