Abstract

The paper addresses specific issues for monitoring biological wastewater treatment processes. It presents the structure of a monitoring system, the difficulties in measuring and processing parameters in wastewater treatment plants and the placement of the sensors. In recent years the measuring instrumentation in wastewater treatment experienced a significant development in terms of performance and reliability. This paper presents both classical technologies and the innovative and advanced ones for measuring biological process parameters.
