Abstract

Los profesionales de la contabilidad se enfrentan a diversos retos en su actuar diario. Uno de ellos, es el de registrar los hechos económicos relacionados con la protección del medio ambiente. Para esto se hace necesario contar con una herramienta que permita la obtención de información oportuna para la toma de decisiones, por los especialistas y directivos de las organizaciones. La industria de producción de petróleo y gas es una de las más contaminantes durante los diferentes procesos que en ella se realizan para la obtención de sus productos finales. Es por ello, que el presente artículo tiene como objetivo proponer un procedimiento que le permita a los contadores la identificación, la cuantificación y el registro de los pasivos ambientales originados por la industria petrolera.
