Criminalidade em áreas de fronteiras: o caso de Minas Gerais

Abstract

Nos últimos anos, a criminalidade tem se alastrado em todo o Brasil, sugerindo a hipótese de ter ocorrido uma convergência das taxas de crime. Minas Gerais, por sua vez, sofre influências dos estados vizinhos por meio de suas extensas fronteiras. O presente trabalho propõe analisar se o efeito de borda/beirada (edge effect) afeta a convergência nas taxas de crime entre Minas Gerais e os estados contíguos em nível microrregional para os anos de 1991 e 2010. Os resultados indicam que há convergência condicional das taxas de crime.
