El perfil de la desnutrición crónica infantil en Loja y el rol de las políticas públicas

Abstract

La desnutrición crónica infantil tiene repercusiones a lo largo de la vida y limita el desarrollo de las personas. El Ecuador tiene una de las prevalencias más altas de la región de América Latina y el Caribe, con uno de cada cuatro niños. Al mismo tiempo, las prevalencias internas en sus provincias denotan una diversidad. En ese sentido, el objetivo de esta investigación es el caracterizar a la desnutrición infantil en la provincia de Loja y analizar el rol de las políticas públicas. Para ello, se utiliza una metodología mixta que junta análisis de datos cuantitativos provenientes de la Encuesta de Condiciones de Vida y análisis de información cualitativa a través de los Planes de Desarrollo y Ordenamiento Territorial. El principal resultado del estudio es que la desnutrición crónica infantil en Loja está en niveles alarmantes, con brechas en sus causas, donde la política pública necesita fortalecer su rol hacia la búsqueda de bienestar.
