Urbanización y desigualdad de ingresos a nivel global enfoque con datos de panel

Abstract

El presente trabajo examina la relación entre la urbanización y la desigualdad, medida por el coeficiente de Gini a nivel mundial, en los años de 1980 a 2015. Se utilizó datos del World Development Indicator (WDI) del Banco Mundial y la base Inequaliti Database. A través del uso de una metodología de datos de panel, se busca demostrar que el crecimiento de la urbanización genera más desigualdad de ingresos a nivel mundial. Estimamos la relación en un contexto mundial de grandes cambios, y de intensos debates políticos, empujando a la derecha y a la izquierda política, lo que genera políticas distintas entre países. Los resultados muestran, la existencia de relación de corto plazo entre las variables, desigualdad de ingresos y urbanización, conjuntamente las pruebas de causalidad de Granger indican que existe causalidad bidireccional, dando a entender que la urbanización causa a la desigualdad de ingresos y viceversa.
