Impacto de la inversión en educación en el crecimiento económico en Ecuador, periodo 2000-2017

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es examinar el impacto que produce la inversión pública en educación en el crecimiento económico en el Ecuador durante el periodo 2000-2017, con datos disponibles del Banco Mundial. Se desarrolla un modelo de Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios donde la variable dependiente es el PIB (crecimiento económico) y la variable independiente es GPE (gasto público en educación), como resultado se obtiene que el gasto público en educación ocasiona un impacto positivo y estadísticamente significativo en el crecimiento económico en Ecuador, es decir cuando gasto público en educación (GPE) incrementa en 1%, el PIB (crecimiento económico) aumenta en 0,34%. Es bien sabido que el crecimiento económico depende de otros factores y en este estudio se toma en consideración algunos de ellos, variables de control tales como; gasto público en salud (GPS), formación bruta de capital (FBC), renta de petróleo en dólares (RPD), agricultura valor agregado (AVA), exportaciones de bienes y servicios (EBS), gasto en investigación y desarrollo (GID), gasto público en bienestar social (GPBS) y recaudación impositiva (RI). Todas las variables incluidas en el modelo son representativas y estadísticamente significativas que explican de manera adecuada la variable dependiente, determinando así, que, la educación es un factor importante para impulsar al crecimiento del (PIB) desarrollo económico en Ecuador.
