Urbanización e industrialización en Ecuador

Abstract

El presente trabajo examina la relación entre la tasa de crecimiento de la urbanización y la tasa de industrialización en Ecuador de 1965 a 2015. Se utilizó datos del World Development Indicator del Banco Mundial. A través del uso de técnicas de cointegración y corrección de error se busca, demostrar que el crecimiento de la industria como consecuencia del crecimiento de la urbanización,genera más ingresos a la economía. Estimamos la relación en un país que tiene un bajo nivel de participación de la industria en el Producto interno bruto, dependiendo en gran manera de ingresos de impuestos y de los ingresos provenientes de las exportaciones del petróleo. Los resultados muestran unas relaciones de larga y corta duración entre la tasa de urbanización y la tasa de industrialización.
