Relación entre capital humano y crecimiento económico de Colombia

Abstract

La presente investigación analiza la relación entre capital humano y el crecimiento económico para Colombia, durante el periodo 1980-2015, utilizando técnicas de cointegración. Los datos son series de tiempo y fueron obtenidos de la base de datos de Barro-Lee (2016) para el capital humano y del World Development Indicator del Banco Mundial (2016), para el crecimiento económico. Se utilizó como referencia el modelo de crecimiento neoclásico de Solow (1956). Se aplicó el modelo de vectores autorregresivo y el modelo de vector de corrección del error, con los que se obtuvo como resultado una relación de corto y largo plazo entre ambas variables. No encontramos efectos causales en ninguna dirección. Una implicación de política derivada de esta investigación es incrementar el gasto público en educación ya que esto mejorará y estabilizará los niveles de crecimiento económico de Colombia.
