Abstract

This paper examined the role of Home Economics in curbing insecurity and inflation in Nigeria. It investigated into the contributory factors of insecurity and inflation in Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the study. Seventy (70) respondents were used for the study. The respondents were lecturers, final year students and some post graduate students offering Home Economics Education in Enugu state tertiary institutions namely: University of Nigeria, Federal College of Education Eha–Amufu and Enugu State College of Education (Technical). A 30-item questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents. 70 questionnaire copies distributed were completed and returned. The respondents agreed with all the items listed as causes, and consequences of insecurity and inflation in Nigeria and equally agreed with all the items suggested as how to manage the challenges of insecurity and inflation through Home Economics Education in Enugu State. The researchers concluded that Home Economics must be given adequate attention by the government to ensure effective skills training that will guarantee job opportunities for Nigerians and makes for healthy living by all.
