Sobre supuestos irreales y su uso en modelos económicos

Abstract

En el modelamiento económico se ha argumentado muchas veces en contra de los supuestos “irreales”, aquellos que se creen falsos o equívocos y que no tienen nada que ver con la realidad que nos muestran los datos empíricos. En la posición de estos críticos se observa una falta de atención a la intención de aquellos que esgriman este tipo de supuestos en los modelos que construyen. Para argumentar mi punto de vista y defender el uso de supuestos que se alejen de la realidad empezaré con una pequeña definición de teoría y de “supuesto irreal”.
