Hacia una reconceptualización de la política social: revisión del debate teórico más reciente

Abstract

La formulación de la política social en América Latina a partir de la década de los años ochenta, se ha visto influenciada por un contexto económico adverso, no solo por los efectos de la crisis internacional de los años ochenta y el fuerte cuestionamiento a las políticas de desarrollo económico vigentes en ese momento (Estructuralismo), sino por el predominio alcanzado por las tesis económicas neoliberales y sus programas de Ajuste Estructural (PAE's), que dan prioridad a los objetivos de la estabilidad y el crecimiento económico y que cuestionan abiertamente las políticas públicas activas que caracterizaron al modelo anterior.
