Estructura y expatriación: riesgos en la asignación externa para expatriados que aprenden

Abstract

El presente estudio de corte empírico y sustentado en la teoría de la agencia, versa sobre el impacto de los mecanismos de coordinación y control en relación a los desajustes presentados por expatriados en misiones internacionales, para lo cual se desarrolló una investigación longitudinal sobre 12 casos de sujetos trasladados a distintas localidades del mundo cuyo rol estuvo centrado en el aprendizaje. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que (a) los mecanismos de coordinación y control establecidos por "el principal" resultan clave desde el punto de vista estratégico para el éxito en la adaptación, logro de metas y posterior transferencia de conocimientos por parte del "agente", (b) que los mecanismos pueden estar en dependencia a restricciones estructurales o del entorno afectando la efectividad en su aplicación y (c) que el éxito de la expatriación no sólo debe evaluarse por los resultados obtenidos sino por la oportuna replicación y transferencia tecnológica a la institución.
