Determinantes de la elección de una universidad para estudiantes de último año de educación secundaria en Costa Rica

Abstract

Se realiza una breve introducción sobre la educación superior en Costa Rica desde el siglo XIX hasta la actualidad. Se realiza un análisis de regresión multinomial tomando como variable independiente la universidad para realizar estudios superiores y como variables independientes, en su mayoría categóricas, se analizaron el género el colegio de procedencia, la carrera que desea cursar, materia que más le agrada, tipo de estudiante y un índice de "prestigio" para cada universidad. Los resultados mostraron que las principales variables que influyen en la elección de la universidad son el género, el tipo de colegio y el prestigio que gozan los centros de enseñanza superior.
