Abstract

Se analiza la promoción de la actividad turística en Costa Rica en el marco cambio en el estilo nacional de desarrollo que los gobiernos del país han implementado paulatinamente desde la década de 1980. Se retoma la discusión acerca del papel del Estado en la dinamización del turismo, y de los mecanismos, sobre todo fiscales, mediante los cuales el Estado ha beneficiado al sector turístico. Por último, esbozamos algunas anotaciones sobre el Plan Nacional de Desarrollo Turístico del gobierno de Costa Rica.
