Competitividad, especialización y mercado laboral en el cantón de Pérez Zeledón: Un análisis de economía regional

Abstract

El artículo que aquí presentamos es resultado del estudio de caso de la economía local de Pérez Zeledón y forma parte de la investigación que en economía regional hemos venido realizando en el Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias Económicas (IICE) desde el año 2005. En este estudio aplicamos una serie de instrumentos técnicos, propios de la economía regional, para identificar los grados de especialización y competitividad de la economía de Pérez Zeledón, utilizando coeficientes de localización. Para el análisis del mercado laboral se hizo uso del modelo Shift-Share, el cual permite determinar el cambio en la participación del empleo espacialmente modificado y descomponer el crecimiento del empleo en cuatro efectos: el efecto nacional, el efecto sectorial, el efecto regional o competitivo y el efecto "locacional".
