Abstract

(Based on Max Weber’s understanding of social sciences as Kulturwissenschaften (cultural studies), the author develops a concept of business ethics that is grounded on a theory of action and a theory of institutions. A multi-level approach – as a theory of action, interaction, institution, organization and society – allows highlighting crucial elements in business ethics with respect to moral actions, to the business organization, and to societal governance. In comparison to traditional approaches in Economics, Cultural Business Ethics develops an extended perspective in the field of business ethics. Moreover, the concept sketches possible links between descriptive and normative ethics.)
