Abstract

[Paper in French] Through contingent valuation method, this article determines farmer’s willingness to accept for adoption the restoration project of Lake Chad. Using the survey data collected in the Cameroonian part of Lake Chad, the statistical analyses estimate the average farmer’s willingness to accept to be 920 612 CFA Francs. The econometric analysis confirms the absence of strategic bias and shows in particular that this value depends on the following factors: farm income, cultivated surface, matrimonial statute and household size. Finally, the choice of a measure of the value of an environmental good should depend on the targeted population.
