Sustentabilidad y la gestión del recurso agua en México: una revisión histórica

Abstract

La sustentabilidad se hizo presente a partir de las discusiones que evidenciaron que el modelo de desarrollo tradicional en su lógica de dominio y control por los recursos materiales e inmateriales, estaba generando una crisis ecológica y una crisis de las relaciones humanas que amenazan la vida misma. Con este nuevo paradigma, convergen las reflexiones acerca del futuro del recurso hídrico a diferentes escalas, aceptando que de no gestionar el recurso agua de manera integral el mundo se enfila a una crisis del recurso sin precedente en la historia de la humanidad. En este contexto, la temática abordada en este estudio representa un análisis de la revisión histórica de la sustentabilidad y la gestión del recurso agua en México, con el objetivo de identificar la forma en que el recurso agua ha sido manejada en nuestro país en el último siglo y con ello evidenciar la necesidad de transitar hacia un modelo de gestión integral sostenible que propicie la conservación de este patrimonio natural en lo presente y futuro.
