Abstract

This contribution focuses on the battle for the public management of electricity promoted by the economist Ernesto Rossi with the support of the Amici del Mondo group. Between 1955 and 1964, twelve conferences were organized by this association, which arose around the journal of the same name directed by Mario Pannunzio. Two of them were dedicated to the nationalization of the electricity and electronuclear sector, according to a lucid project of "liberal planning". This contribution explores the context in which these meetings took place, the role played by Rossi, the proposals that emerged from the debate and the results obtained in terms of legislation and public awareness.
