Abstract

[eng] The under-nourishment of an important part of the world population, which has increased with the soaring food prices, justifies, at the international level, the search for better coordination of agricultural policies. The rules of the multilateral World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) are needed, but major changes should be considered to enable agriculture to address the many challenges (food, energy and environment) of the XXIst century. The development of agriculture in developing countries which are net importers of agricultural products must be placed at the heart of the debate on global governance of this specific sector.
