Abstract

[eng] Relationships between the single monetary policy and prudential policies. . At a time when financial stability considerations take an increasing part in central banks'preoccupations, concern has been expressed regarding the limited role imparted to the European Central Bank (ECB) in that area. Attempts should thus be made to answer two questions: does the making of the euro area tend to heigthen systemic risk? Can the Eurosystem forestall and manage efficiently a possible financial crisis? On both accounts, a reassuring answer can be provided.
