Abstract

[eng] The economics of famine, inefficiencies of the market, inequities of rights or systemic risks?. . The three main economic analyses of famine are in conflict with each other. The first one gives greater place to the lack of availability, the second stresses the inefficiencies of the market and the last one highlights the lack of rights or entitlements. This article first touches upon the main economic analysis of famine and then addresses the subject from a institutional perspective, looking in particular at the systemic risks.
