Abstract

[eng] Bertrand and Cournot may exist. . This article presents a general approach establishing the coexistence of Bertrand and Cournot oligopolists. It is based on a two-stage game model where the firms choose the priees at the first stage and the aggregate consumer decides the quantities at the second one. Accordingly no demand function is explicitly introduced. Such a coexistence occurs because bounded rationality features are embedded into the consumer behavior. In this context, we find that Cournot oligopolists play a stabilizing role on the market structure. [fre] Cournot et Bertrand peuvent coexister. .
