Abstract

[eng] Uncertainty and strategical choices : a modelling essay. . Uncertainty is a crucial factor in investment decision-making ; this aspect becomes preponderant when a firm's financial commitment induces it to incur risk which might compromise its future (as is often the case when trustification strategies are envisaged). On basis of the measurement of the uncertainty involved (precision with which a decision-maker can estimate the future flows of financial benefits which he is likely to obtain with a given strategy), the author proposes a model which makes it possible to assess the probabilities of succes s (in this case, getting beyong break-even point) or of failure (depletion of financial resources) in relation to trustification strategy. The resuit obtained demonstrate the relationships between these probabilities and degree of uncertainty, recuperation time, or choice flexibility In this paper, these relationships are illustrated by simulations which exemplify some of the possibilities provided by this model.
