Structure et évolution d'un oligopole

Abstract

[eng] Since Cournot Duopoly in 1838, oligopoly theory progressed very slowly, leading the way to the study of close but different market forms, such as the Monopolistic competition.. As far as an oligopoly is concerned it seems interesting to determine the fîrms which are in a position to dominate the other companies building the oligopoly. Our aim will be to study the dependance relations between the firms for all the competition variables (price, advertisement, quality...). The recent advances in Markov processes and network theory provide tools for a more rigorous analysis.. We will fîrst consider the one variable competition ; a model introducing all the competititive actions and means will be presented in a later article.. The model is applied to the automobile industry in France on a 10 years period.
