Abstract

[eng] Elections to the "chambres d'agriculture" 31 st january 1995 : a token of farmers ' changing professional identity . The "Chambres d'agriculture" elections stand as a significant stake for the representation of farmers 'professional organizations. The last three elections have been under scrutiny: 1983, 1989 and 1995. Participation is lessening, however it remains higher than for other professional polls. Since 1983, minority forces gained seats, without unhorsing the fnsea- cnja's absolute majority. Detailed investigations on five "départements" allow to go further by putting results in relation with socio-economic, demographic and geographical variables.
